Sighisoara keeps a perfectly preserved old town, with the urbanistic structure and typical buildings of a medieval citadel, which was declared World Heritage by UNESCO and where every year is being held a medieval Festival in the last week of July. Among the buildings that form the historical centre, of particular interest are the houses of artisans which, under the supervision of a foundation and with the support of the Romanian Government, still retain the laboratories and the related work tools. The clock tower: The building which represents the symbol of the city is the clock tower, built in 1556 and 64 m high, which now houses a history museum. However, there are many historic buildings, including the medieval citadel, the Church on the Hill, which contains a crypt and interesting frescoes, which can be reached by climbing a staircase completely covered by a wooden roof, the Church of the monastery, took this name because before the reform was the Church of the Dominican monastery, which stood in the place of what is now the town hall, and the small Museum of arms, which welcomes a collection of swords, arrows, armor and other medieval military equipment.
