There are many tourists that we brought in Bran ... all attracted by the myth of famous Count Dracula ! Bram Stoker elected Bran as Dracula’s house in his book with the same name released in 1897 and since then both the small Transylvanian village and the character become part of the collective imagination. Who doesn't know the story of the world's most popular vampire?!
The irish writer made famous the figure of Vlad III of Muntenia (Dracula) who lived in the 15th century. In fact the presence of Dracula in Bran Castle was short and dates to the year 1459 when he had a dispute with the merchants from Brasov (unfortunately for them ...) while it is certain that his reference point was without doubt the Poienari Castle (now reduced to a ruin and attainable after climbing 1400 steps .....). Queen Marie lived for a long time in the Castle giving life to a brilliant cultural life and taking care of the interior furniture that even today can be admired (some furniture in the Biedermeier style, terracotta stoves, German ceramics and even Faenza!)
Bran Castle has all the ingredients to strike fear in visitors ... set on a spur of rock and and with its sloping roofs represents the perfect crime scene blood of Dracula! Bran, however, represents a fixed point both for day trips in the Prahova valley (as well as the Peles Castle, Sinaia and the medieval Citadel of Rasnov not far from the Bran village) as well as tour of Transylvania for several days
